The Tehran Times is Iran's largest English language newspaper, and broadcasts itself as "Iran's leading international newspaper." Above, the home page of the Tehran Times' website is juxtaposed with the home page of the New York Times' site. The Tehran Times focuses largely on pro-Iranian news that is immediately pertinent to the surrounding region, whereas the top stories at the NYT largely focus on the United States. There is very little overlap in terms of these top stories, though both do feature pieces on North Korea. It is interesting to note, however, that while the NYT story is about North Korea's nuclear capability, the Tehran Times story is about the "drive for influence on the Korean peninsula." The New York Times page is also dominated by advertising, whereas there is no advertising on the Tehran Times page.
CNN vs. Al Jazeera

Above are CNN and Al Jazeera news broadcasts covering the "global day of action" in support of Iranian protesters in 2009. In terms of structure, the broadcasts are similar. Both feature on-site correspondents, expert interviews, and footage of the protests. The CNN broadcast relates the Iranian protests to the American civil rights movement, whereas the Al Jazeera broadcast takes a more skeptical tone; it features several Al Jazeera analysts who opine that foreign protests will have no impact at all in Tehran.
IRIB TV vs. CNN

The above videos showcase both Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN) broadcast featuring coverage of violence in Gaza in November, 2012, and CNN coverage of the same conflict. In terms of pure stye, the IRINN broadcast mirrors western news shows. There is heavy use of graphics, tone-setting music, and a summary of headlines before the show delves into each story. Both programs prominently feature women, and both make use of on-site correspondents dressed as if they are going to war. The big differences lie in content. The Iranian broadcast is decidedly anti-Israel, they frequently juxtapose Israeli imagery (including a picture of Benjamin Netanyahu) with footage of bombs and explosions. The CNN broadcast, on the other hand, refrains from overtly favoring one side or the other, but you'll notice that the only civilian casualties they report are Israeli. The segments for each IRINN story are also decidedly longer than you might see on a similar American news program.

There are large Persian audiences throughout the world, including in the United States. "Shahs of Sunset" is a reality show in the mold of MTV's "The Jersey Shore," which focuses on the lives of young Persians friends living in Los Angeles.
